"I am honored to come alongside your family..."
Pastor Owen has a gift for leading funerals and celebration of life services.
All of us are looking with unveiled faces at the glory of the Lord as if we were looking in a mirror. We are being transformed into that same image from one degree of glory to the next degree of glory. This comes from the Lord, who is the spirit.
Reverend Owen Skinner is the Senior Pastor at Loganville First United Methodist Church with 23 years of ministry experience. A majority of his ministry has been spent caring for congregation and community members mourning the loss of loved ones.
Pastor Owen has a gift for leading funerals and celebration of life services. “I am honored to come alongside your family during one of the most devastating moments. As you grieve the loss of your loved one, I am able to listen empathetically for descriptions, stories and emotions that express the impact she or he has made on you. This makes a tremendous difference in the way we will mourn and celebrate your loved one in the midst of tears and laughter.”
Pastor Owen met our family for the first time just three days ago yet he beautifully
shared our stories about mom as if he knew her.
I have been a funeral director for over 42 years. In all this time I have met many
ministers. Of all the ministers I have met none of them had the unique and special God inspired talent that Owen Skinner has. He takes time to learn of the deceased and what special needs the family has. He is outstanding to work with in coordinating the logistical aspects that we funeral directors have. He is my Go-To minister in service to families.
The honorarium covers the pastor’s time with the family, organizing the service and/or eulogy and presiding over the chapel and/or graveside service. The honorarium is usually in the range of $200-500 depending on the amount of involvement at the discretion of the family members. This is typically given after the service but family will have the option to give beforehand or the day after the service. If the chapel and/or graveside service will be outside the metro Atlanta area or in another state, travel expenses will be worked out prior to the service.
Members of Loganville First United Methodist Church do not need to give an honorarium to the pastor. If they are inclined to share a gift of gratitude, they can make a donation to Loganville First UMC with “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund".
These funds will be used towards new ministry ideas for Loganville First UMC.
